So we have a lot of questions after watching this video, one of which is “We are growing (literally) towards the 11 billion population mark, what are we doing to sustain ourselves?”
The American Museum of Natural History developed a short, insightful feature video that systematically shows how humans spread across the world over a few hundred thousand years —- from a population base that remained under 1 million —- all the way to our current population of around 7 billion.
It weaves the story of the world’s population through the rise and falls of empires, conquests and plagues. In a little over 200 years, the global population grew from an estimated 1 billion to nearly 7 billion people. By 2100, the world’s population is projected to peak at an estimated 11 billion.
